Introduction Idaho is ranked 39th among the 50 state of U.S. Idaho is surrounded by Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and the Canadian Province of British Columbia. Idaho was admitted to the United States union in 1890 as the 43rd state. The constitution of Idaho provides three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. Idaho has a bicameral legislature, elected from 35 legislative districts, each represented by one Senator and two representatives. Statewide elected officers are elected for a four year term which includes Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, controller, Attorney General, and Superintendent of Public Institution. The elections for governor are nationally referred to as midterm election. The governor is not elected in the same election year in which the president of United States is elected. Idaho’s legislation is part time and can be extended if necessary. The Senators and the House of Representatives are both elected for two-year term. Legislative election occurs every even numbered year. The highest court in Idaho is the Idaho Supreme Court as per the judiciary authority. There are also courts like Idaho Court of Appeals and the Appellate Court of Idaho which hear cases assigned by the Supreme Court.
